How to Treat Yourself

Me time. Rewards. Self-love.

If you’ve been following me on Snapchat… @yasminssw, shameless self promotion, then you know I talk about treating yourself ALL THE TIME! It’s such an important factor to our well being and yessss sooooo important to your happiness.

We often forget to do this particular thing, and we end up feeling drained and sometimes even worthless. Me time should be the highest priority in all our lives, as our body and state of being is the only place we have to live.  Whaddup Jim Rohn reference! Treating yourself means investing in yourself. It means investing time, energy and in some cases even money, to create a balance between your state of mind and your heart. So let’s dive straight into the importance of this act and how to do so.

Acknowledge that you deserve the time right now to treat yourself and to take time off to recharge and fuel your body with more confidence and power. You’re on your own road trip, in your car driving towards your end goal. The longer you’re driving on that road in one go, the more fuel your car will use up. If you keep driving even after the fuel light has shown up on your dashboard, your car is not going to go very far, and will eventually stop and break down.

And that’s exactly like us, we constantly work so hard and push our limits to the point where our body is worn out and it breaks down. The gas station you fuel your car with, is you treating yourself with new energy.

Be aware of why you’re treating yourself. I believe by doing so, you’re so much more conscious of the where you stand right now. The amount of incredible work you have accomplished or the opposite, the amount of stress and anxiety you have worked up till this very moment.

By being aware of your why, you’re creating space to be more mindful of your current situation and understanding that you deserve this reward for yourself and you might realise you need to treat yourself more often than you think.

Everyone has their own different way of treating themselves and not one is better than the other. Personally I treat myself in a load of different ways that range from a big treatment, a trip abroad, to a small treatment, my love… a piece of chocolate. Depending on your why, you can determine your own size of treatment.

Has your insane hard work been taking its toll on your body? My friend, you deserve nothing less than an insanely relaxing massage.

Have you studied a whole chapter you were absolutely dreading? Go go go shawty, here’s some chocolate, we’re gonna party with all this chocolate!

Knowing what you like and what makes you soooo happy, that’s the perfect way to treat yourself!

I hope that after reading this post and watching the video below, you’ve realised that you need to treat yourself more often. Here’s how… Make a list of all the ways that you want to treat yourself, and write down anything that comes to mind. You’ve read a few of the things I’ve mentioned so GO BIG, GO WILD, GO PASSIONATELY and even go small! Then, hang that list somewhere where you can see it often to remind yourself to treat yourself ever so often!

Also, this makes it even more fun to look forward to your next treatment. It can even be that motivation to save up for something you have been dying to reward yourself with.
