5 Steps To Improving Your Fitness Routine

Let’s just say some of us start to take fitness a lot more seriously at the start of a new year. Well we’re 10 months into the “new year”and we all know it’s been lacking for a while. Here are 5 steps to achieving your fitness goal and seeing the growth again.

1. Determine Goal

1. Determine Goal

First thing’s first (I’m the realest), determine what your goal is to work out. Having a goal in mind, will motivate you more to work out and grow. Want to loose a few pounds, or be able to run 5 km for the Winter, there are many goals that can be applied, you just have to find the one that fits you. My goal is feel good in my skin, and I’ve wanted to loose that baby fat on my chubby cheeks for a while now, as well as being a lot stronger in my poor chicken arms. Also, working out gives me more energy throughout the day, and that’s also a goal I have, getting more done with more energy.

2. 8020 rule

2. 80/20 Rule

It’s all about the 80/20 rule, 80% of your time should be focused towards nutrition and 20% on fitness. You can work out 5 days a week, but if you’re not eating clean, you won’t see any changes. Many of us, including myself sometimes, fall into this notion of “I work out so I can eat whatever I want.” Well yeah you can, but if you want to see the growth and the results you’re working towards, it’s best to stay away from the snacks and instead whenever you’re feeling peckish nibble on some fruit and veggies. Find the will power within to avoid the snack aisle in the supermarket, or those delicious cakes at Starbucks or your local cafe. Or the courage to tell your mother not to buy those delicious cookies and chocolate, now that is real dedication!

3. Plan Ahead

3. Plan Ahead

They say that the best way of getting things done is by writing it down and planning it in, and that’s no exception to fitness. When you plan in the days you’d like to work out, there’s a larger chance of you actually doing it, than just going when you feel like it. After work on a Wednesday night could be your run night, and Saturday morning Squat Saturday! Make it as realistic as possible, so every time you look in your planner, you’ll be reminded to do them butt workouts on a Tuesday!

4. Feel Inspired

4. Feel Inspired

The one thing that gets me motivated to work out and being fit is Instagram! There are so many motivational quotes and inspiring people on Instagram that get me up off my butt and into the gym. I’ve rounded up my favourite fitness/health instagrammers and I hope they can inspire you too:

Fitness
– The Body Coach (Joe Wicks)
– Yoga_Girl (Rachel Brathen)
– Kayla_Itsines

Food
– Living The Healthy Choice (Pauline)
– Natural Nomad (Lauren)
– Detox Water

5. Have Fun

5. Have Fun

Working out shouldn’t be something you are reluctant to do, so switch up your work out routine and find a fitness buddy. Instead of the treadmill, choose to do some leg workouts with a pilates ball, or instead of HIIT opt for some pilates. Blogilates has amazing home workouts for everyone to do, and Cassie’s enthusiasm is a plus. Working out together always involves so many laughs, as you toughen it out together, and fight the elliptical machines! Also, meeting up at the gym together is a great motivation, as you’re less likely to leave your buddy hanging!

Fitness Growth

And please share some of your favourite work outs, like I said, I love switching up my routine and trying out new things, difficult or extreme! Now go kick some butt!

Keep dreaming and believing!
